Ed Sheeran's third night in Toronto in 2026 showed exactly why he has become one of the biggest live performers in the world. With little more than a guitar, a microphone and his famous loop-pedal setup, Sheeran turned the massive venue into something that often felt surprisingly intimate.
The performance moved through songs from across his career, balancing huge pop hits with quieter acoustic moments. “Castle on the Hill,” “Shivers” and “The A Team” immediately gave the crowd plenty to sing along with, while “Photograph” and “Perfect” created some of the night's most emotional moments.
One of the most impressive parts of any Sheeran show is watching him build arrangements live. Rather than relying entirely on a large backing band, he layers guitar parts, percussion and vocals through his looping system. What begins as a relatively simple performance can quickly become a full, rich musical arrangement.
The audience response was enormous throughout the night. “Thinking Out Loud” became a massive singalong, while “Galway Girl” and “Shape of You” brought the energy back up. Sheeran has an unusual ability to move between intimate singer-songwriter material and gigantic pop productions without making either side feel out of place.
“Eyes Closed” provided another particularly poignant moment. The song's emotional weight was obvious in the room, but Sheeran never allowed the performance to become overly dramatic. His straightforward delivery kept the focus on the music.
The final stretch was essentially one giant collection of crowd favorites. “Bad Habits,” “Sapphire,” “Sing,” “Shape of You” and “You Need Me, I Don't Need You” kept the audience on its feet, with Sheeran repeatedly encouraging Toronto to make as much noise as possible.
For Night 3, there was a sense that both performer and audience had settled into the occasion. Sheeran looked completely comfortable onstage, while the Toronto crowd knew exactly how to respond to every major song. The result was a lively, warm and remarkably personal concert despite the enormous scale of the production.
Ed Sheeran's third Toronto night wasn't built around spectacle for spectacle's sake. Its biggest strength was the connection between one performer and thousands of people who knew the songs by heart. That's what continues to make his concerts so effective: underneath all the technology and enormous venues, the show still feels like one guy with a guitar playing songs for a crowd.
