Doja Cat - Boston 2024

Doja Cat headlined Kiss Concert 2024 at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts, on June 1, 2024. Although often described simply as a Boston concert, the show actually took place about 30 miles southwest of Boston, and it was the kickoff to the summer concert season for Boston's Kiss 108. The lineup also featured Shaboozey, Jason Derulo, Shinedown, Isabel LaRosa, Knox, and Mark Ambor.

The performance came just months after Doja Cat's massive Scarlet Tour, so she arrived in Massachusetts with plenty of momentum. Her appearance at the Kiss Concert was also part of a busy 2024 that included major festival performances, including Coachella and other high-profile dates.

Doja's set drew heavily from the Scarlet era while still giving the crowd the major hits that had made her one of pop and hip-hop's biggest stars. Songs such as “Demons,” “Agora Hills,” “Say So,” “Need to Know,” “Kiss Me More,” and “Paint the Town Red” demonstrated the unusual range of her catalog, moving from rap-heavy material to sleek pop without making the set feel disconnected.

The Boston-area audience was particularly enthusiastic about seeing Doja in a relatively unusual setting for her. Instead of a full-scale arena tour production, she was appearing at a large summer radio festival with a long lineup and a shorter performance window. That meant the emphasis was on recognizable songs, quick transitions, and keeping the crowd engaged.

The timing also gave the concert a different feel from her 2023 Boston appearance at TD Garden during The Scarlet Tour. That arena show featured a much longer set of 29 songs, while the 2024 Kiss Concert was designed as a festival performance.

Still, the Xfinity Center crowd got the essential Doja Cat experience: swagger, sharp rapping, pop instincts, and a performer who can jump between completely different musical personalities without losing control of the show. She was clearly the main attraction of the Kiss 108 lineup, and the event's promotional material had positioned her as the night's headliner from the beginning.

For fans who made the trip from Boston and throughout New England, Kiss Concert 2024 was a strong summer kickoff. Doja Cat had already proven she could command an arena, but her appearance at the Xfinity Center showed that she could also walk onto a huge festival stage, work with a condensed set, and still give the crowd the songs and personality they came to see.
