Djo - Lollapalooza 2025

Djo took the T-Mobile Stage at Grant Park in Chicago on August 1, 2025, during the second day of Lollapalooza. Joe Keery's musical project was playing at 6:40 p.m., with a one-hour set that turned out to be one of the festival's standout performances.

The Chicago appearance came during Djo's Another Bite Tour and at a particularly important point in the project's rise. Keery was already widely known as an actor, but Djo had developed an identity of its own, blending psychedelic pop, indie rock, electronic textures, and surprisingly big hooks. Lollapalooza gave him an enormous audience to prove that Djo was much more than a side project.

The set opened with “Runner,” followed by “Gloom,” “Link,” and “Basic Being Basic.” The newer material from The Crux fit naturally alongside songs from DECIDE, giving the performance a balance between Djo's established sound and the direction Keery was taking the project.

“Charlie's Garden” provided one of the show's more personal moments, with a special message from Keery's Stranger Things co-star Charlie Heaton. “Roddy” followed, complete with a drum solo, before the band moved into “Gap Tooth Smile,” “Chateau (Feel Alright),” “Potion,” “Delete Ya,” and “Egg.”

The biggest crowd response naturally arrived for “End of Beginning.” The song had become Djo's signature breakthrough, and performing it in Keery's hometown of Chicago added another layer to the moment. A compilation featuring Djo and his bandmates through the years preceded the song, making the performance feel almost like a celebration of how far the project had come.

The finale was equally memorable. “Back on You” closed the set with the United Voices Chicago Choir joining Djo onstage. The combination of Keery's band, the choir, and a massive festival audience gave the ending a much bigger feeling than a typical one-hour afternoon set.

Djo's Lollapalooza performance was later singled out by Cosmopolitan as one of the festival's five best sets, with the publication specifically highlighting the Chicago connection, the nostalgic elements, and the energy of the performance.

For Djo, Lollapalooza 2025 was an important statement. Joe Keery may have entered the spotlight as an actor, but on the T-Mobile Stage he looked completely comfortable as a musician and frontman. The Chicago crowd got a polished, energetic performance that showed Djo had grown into a genuine festival act—and “End of Beginning” provided exactly the hometown-sized moment the occasion deserved.
