Adam Ant — Keswick Theatre 2013 NEW

Adam Ant’s 2013 tour celebrated the theatrical swagger and infectious rhythms that made him one of the most distinctive figures of the British new wave movement. His performance at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pennsylvania, was part of an extensive North American run supporting Adam Ant Is the Blueblack Hussar in Marrying the Gunner’s Daughter.

The show drew heavily from the Adam and the Ants catalog, with “Dog Eat Dog,” “Ants Invasion,” “Kings of the Wild Frontier” and “Stand and Deliver” representing the songs that established his reputation. The Good, the Mad and the Lovely Posse provided a driving backing, including a distinctive two-drummer setup that gave the material extra punch. Newer tracks such as “Cool Zombie” and “Vince Taylor” offered a glimpse of Ant’s continuing creative interests.

“Antmusic,” “Goody Two Shoes” and “Prince Charming” brought the evening back to the hits that remain central to his legacy, delivering a nostalgic celebration of one of new wave’s most flamboyant performers.
