Night Shop — Toronto 2026 NEW

Before Pinhead Gunpowder tore through its punk rock set at the Danforth Music Hall, Night Shop offered Toronto a different musical flavor with a short, intimate performance rooted in indie rock and thoughtful songwriting. The project is led by Justin Sullivan, known for his work with bands including Ringers, Worriers and the Babies, and his material favors atmosphere and melody over the breakneck energy of the headliners.

The set included “Ode to Joy II,” “Let Me Be the Lamb,” “The Beloved Returns” and “Hello Take Me Anywhere,” showcasing songs from Night Shop's reflective, guitar-driven catalog. “Forever Night” and “The One I Love” added to the mood before the group closed with a cover of the Jim Carroll Band's “People Who Died,” a fittingly memorable choice on a bill steeped in punk rock.

Although Night Shop played a relatively brief set, the performance provided an interesting contrast to the night's main attraction and introduced Toronto fans to Sullivan's more understated songwriting.
