Adam Ant — Beacon Theatre 2019 NEW
Adam Ant brought his colorful new wave legacy to New York's Beacon Theatre in 2019, delivering a performance packed with the theatrical flair, infectious rhythms and memorable hooks that made him an MTV-era favorite. Decades after his breakthrough with Adam and the Ants, Ant remained a commanding frontman, balancing his flamboyant stage persona with the sharp-edged energy of his classic material.
The set celebrated the songs that established his reputation, including “Dog Eat Dog,” “Antmusic,” “Kings of the Wild Frontier” and “Stand and Deliver.” The distinctive percussion-driven arrangements gave the performance its signature sound, while Ant's unmistakable vocals kept the focus firmly on the music. “Prince Charming” and “Goody Two Shoes” brought familiar singalong moments, reminding the audience just how many enduring hits came from his catalog.
The Beacon's intimate atmosphere suited Ant's theatrical approach, giving longtime fans a chance to revisit the colorful world of early-'80s British pop. It was a lively celebration of an artist whose music and image remain instantly recognizable.
