Public Image Ltd. — Webster Hall 2026 NEW
Public Image Ltd. brought its This Is Not the Last Tour to New York City's Webster Hall for a powerful evening of post-punk, experimental sounds and John Lydon's unmistakable stage presence. Nearly five decades after PiL emerged from the ashes of the Sex Pistols, Lydon continues to lead a band that refuses to stay confined to punk's original boundaries.
The set opened with “Home” before moving through “Know Now” and “World Destruction,” the latter originally recorded by Lydon with Time Zone. Classics “This Is Not a Love Song,” “Poptones” and “Death Disco” showcased the band's ability to combine abrasive rhythms with hypnotic grooves. “Warrior” and “Shoom” kept the intensity building before “Open Up,” PiL's collaboration with Leftfield, closed the main set.
Guitarist Lu Edmonds, bassist Scott Firth and drummer Mark Roberts provided the muscular foundation for Lydon's distinctive vocals. The encore paired “Rise” with “Religion,” delivering a fitting finish to a set that celebrated PiL's adventurous musical legacy while proving the band remains a compelling live force.
