ABC — Bergen PAC 2018 NEW
Martin Fry and ABC brought a touch of sophisticated pop elegance to Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, New Jersey, during the 2018 Retro Futura Tour. With its combination of stylish arrangements, catchy melodies and Fry's unmistakable voice, ABC offered a polished finish to an evening celebrating some of the most memorable music of the 1980s.
The band's set featured a string of favorites, including “The Look of Love,” “Poison Arrow,” “When Smokey Sings” and “(How to Be a) Millionaire.” Each song showcased the group's knack for blending sleek synth-pop with soulful vocals and carefully crafted instrumentation. “Viva Love,” from the band's more recent work, demonstrated that ABC's creative story extended beyond its classic hits, while “The Night You Murdered Love” and “Vanity Kills” added more dramatic flair.
“King Without a Crown” and “All of My Heart” rounded out the performance, giving longtime fans plenty to enjoy. With Fry commanding the stage and the band delivering its signature sound, ABC provided a memorable celebration of new wave and sophisticated pop.
